Happy Monday Lovelies! I hope you had a wonderful weekend. Are you starting your week feeling grateful, refreshed, and ready to embrace the new week ahead?
I am starting my week with a grateful heart and my batteries recharged.
I enjoyed a quiet weekend with my wonderful husband celebrating his birthday. It was a joy to celebrate him and the gift that he is to me.
We spent a leisurely Saturday morning drinking coffee and enjoying a healthy breakfast that I made for us. It felt so good to not have to be anywhere and to be fully present with each other.
We spent the afternoon doing one of our favorite things as a couple – riding our horses. Just the two of us and our beloved horses riding through the woods with nothing to distract us from each other. We were fully immersed in the present moment.
That evening I made him a special birthday dinner. I took him back in time by preparing a homemade pasta marinara sauce with Italian sausage. That dish was the first dinner that I made for him when we started dating 22 years ago.
We both enjoyed every moment of the day. It was a much needed break from our busy lives.
We realized that it had been too long since we’ve shared a day focused only on each other and nurturing our relationship.
We were reminded of how important it is to take time away from our busy lives and the many roles that we have to reconnect with each other.
Our lives are rich and full. We are blessed with dear friendships, precious grandchildren, and wonderful families. Our calendars are full of activities with the people that we love. Yet, we have been negligent about scheduling time for ourselves to nurture our relationship.
When your life gets too busy are the first things you neglect the things you value the most? The things that keep your cup full.
It doesn’t matter if it’s your relationship with yourself or your beloved – or both.
How many times have you skipped a workout, a meditation, or grabbed something quick and unhealthy at the drive-thru because you’ve scheduled yourself too thin to do the things that support you the most?
This week I encourage you to make the things that nurture you a priority. Schedule time for the things that fill your cup first and then schedule the rest of your week.
